Filtering by Location
The first and most important filter is location. Select the state from the dropdown, then the district. For urban areas, the district search returns hospitals within the city. For rural areas, searching the district produces the full list across the district, which can then be reviewed for the nearest relevant facility. Using both state and district filters together eliminates hospitals in other parts of the state and focuses the results on accessible options.
Filtering by Medical Specialty
The specialty filter is the second key step. Selecting the specialty relevant to the patient's condition produces only those hospitals empanelled for that specific treatment category in the selected district. A hospital empanelled for general surgery may not be empanelled for oncology — the specialty filter makes this distinction visible.
Filtering by Hospital Type
The hospital type filter allows selection between government hospitals, private hospitals, or both. For patients who are specifically seeking a private hospital for the PM-JAY treatment, selecting private in this filter removes government facilities from the results. For patients primarily interested in proximity and willing to use any empanelled facility, keeping both types selected provides the widest list.
Confirming Before Visiting
After identifying a hospital from the filtered Ayushman card hospital list—whether curated through official portals or guides like Bajaj Finance—call the hospital's PM-JAY help desk before arrival to confirm that empanelment is currently active for the specific treatment needed. The database is updated regularly but may not reflect very recent changes in empanelment status. A brief phone call converts the database result into confirmed real-time availability.
